It’s nice seeing how Omar’s production techniques have progressed over the years, with earlier efforts being slammed pretty hard to create his infectious chunky drums that were all over his Fabric Live mix cd. On It Can Be Done But Only I Can Do it, most of the tunes were a couple of years old by the time of its release. Even so you could hear the progression, everything remaining heavily electronic but allowing the melody to shine through over the once slammed percussion.
This tune came out as a 12″ and remains one of his best yet, very few tracks out there come even close to this in how it all comes together.
Omar is next playing in London at Secretsundaze X Go Bang during the day in Greenwich on the Bank Holiday. As a Lewisham resident it’s rather nice to be able to get a 20 minute bus ride to go see Omar-S and Floating Points on a Sunday afternoon.
